A folded letter sealed with a terracotta stamp M Epistola

Write to the studio

A wrong numeral, a better idea, or a classroom story: all of it is welcome at hello@mmcxl.org.

Salve, reader

Compose your letter

This form does not send anything. It writes the email for you and opens it in your own mail app, where you can read it, change it and decide whether to send.

If a conversion looks wrong, please include the number or numeral you typed and what you expected.

Before you write

A few honest answers, in case one of them saves you the stamp.

Does this form send my message to a server?

No. The form builds a draft email entirely inside your browser and hands it to your mail app. Nothing is transmitted until you press send there, and no copy is kept by this site.

What should I include when reporting a wrong conversion?

The exact number or numeral you typed, the page you used, and what you expected to see. A screenshot is helpful too. For numerals such as IIII or IC, remember that the converter deliberately follows the modern standard form and explains the difference.

Can I use the studio in my classroom or on a poster?

You are welcome to project the pages, run the practice drill, and print or share plaques you have made in the inscription maker. If you do something delightful with them, we would like to hear about it.

Will you design a tattoo or engrave a plaque for me?

No. MMCXL is a set of tools and notes, not a commissioning service. The inscription maker gives you a clean SVG to show to a professional, who should check spacing and suitability for your chosen medium.

Who is behind the studio?

MMCXL is an independent, non-commercial project, not affiliated with any institution, publisher or company. It exists because Roman numerals are worth looking at slowly.
